Knowledge and Skills Are Mission-Critical: The Pet Professional Guild Summit 2024
I am very proud and excited to share that I have been invited to present for the Pet Professional Guild British Isles Summit. This in-person event is held from the 3rd to the 6th of October and is aimed at professional dog trainers and behaviour professionals, blending academic lectures with practical skill workshops. There will be a wide range of topics covered across the three days, with great opportunities for learning and networking.
I am pleased to be a Canine Training Professional member of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG), which is an organisation that takes a strong stance on force free training and handling for all species.
It is important to me that I am affiliated with organisations that uphold high standards when it comes to education and ethics, which the PPG takes very seriously. The work the organisation does to help educate pet owners, promote standards in the industry and improve the wellbeing of animals has a wide-reaching positive impact.
I am delivering a lecture and a practical workshop, which both focus on different elements of assistance dog training. As someone who is very passionate about accessibility and science-based animal training, I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my experience with attendees and help grow their understanding of how to apply a compassionate and positive reinforcement-based approach for this work.
This event offers a unique opportunity for professionals to bring their own dogs and hone their mechanical skills under the supervision and instruction of an expert. Since practical application is a crucial part of our work, this is a necessary area for trainers and behaviour consultants to continue to learn about and develop. The three day summit will be held in Bourne, Lincolnshire at the wonderful Ogilvie Dogs bespoke training venue.
